A preliminary study on the Average Maximum Velocity Sensitivity index from flow velocity variation in quality control for Color Doppler

Color Doppler (CD) is one of the most used ultrasound (US) techniques as it allows 2D representation blood flow. Even if a clarification on whether such technique provides qualitative or quantitative diagnostic information velocity assessment still awaited, necessity periodic Quality Control (QC) tests ongoing. Consequently, in present preliminary study, previously proposed sensitivity parameter, namely Average Maximum Velocity Sensitivity (AMVS), has been further investigated for QC. Three US systems, equipped with phased array probes, have to collect images. Two phantom flow rate regimes and two system settings employed during data acquisition. Despite limitations encountered, AMVS results are promising, therefore studies should be carried out CD clips, higher number systems probes well greater settings.
